Summary of the book by Louise Hay and Robert Holden.

Chapter 1 - Looking in the Mirror

Summary:

1. Kiss the mirror

  • I think we are making an endless journey through eternity. We come to this planet to learn certain lessons that are necessary for our spiritual evolution. We choose our gender, our skin color, our country, and then we look for the parents who can best "reflect" the guidelines that will govern our lives.

  • Small babies still do not identify with their body, they are like birds of the soul that fly over their bodies and have not yet landed inside them. When they look in the mirror they don't point to the body and think, "That's me" or "That's mine." Babies are just pure consciousness, there is no thought about the self.

2. The Myth of Ineptitude

  • The basic truth "I am worthy of love" has an opposite, the basic fear "I am not worthy of love".

  • The myth of ineptitude manifests itself in different ways:

    • I'm not good enough

    • I'm not smart enough

    • I'm not successful enough

    • I'm not beautiful enough

    • I'm not strong enough

    • I'm not interesting enough

    • I'm not creative enough

    • I'm not rich enough

    • I'm not thin enough

    • I'm not significant enough

3. The mirror principle

  • The mirror was not judging me, it was me who was judging myself. Therefore, he did not need to be afraid of the mirror.

  • The brain receives 10 to 11 million bits of information every second. It filters information and offers us about 2 thousand bits of information per second. Your self-image is the filter. We do not see things as they are but as we are.

  • Perception is a mirror, it is not a fact. And what I see is my state of mind, reflected outward. Projection creates perception. The world you see is what you gave it, nothing more than that. But, although it is not more than that, it is not less either. Therefore, it is important to you. It is the witness of your state of mind, the external image of an internal situation. As a man thinks, he perceives. Therefore, do not try to change the world; instead, you must change your opinion regarding the world.

4. The miracle of self-love

  • The true purpose of working with the mirror is to stop judging yourself and see who you really are.

Practice: Let life love you

  1. Sitting comfortably in front of a mirror

  2. Find your breathing rhythm

  3. inhale

  4. Say to yourself “Life loves you”, and then exhale

  5. repeat 10 times

  6. Pay attention to the answers and write them in a journal

  7. After completing all 10, look in the mirror: "I am willing to allow life to love me today."

  8. Pay attention to the answers and write them in a journal

  9. Remember to practice kindness in this exercise. The tendency is to self-criticism.

Reflections:

  • Love is a mirror, it only reflects your essence, if you have the courage to look it in the face. – Rumi

  • Beloved, you cannot judge yourself and know who you are. The truth about you cannot be judged. Hence, set judgment aside, and for a sweet-sacred moment, let me show you something wonderful. See what it's like to be you when you stop judging yourself. What you judge is just an image. Behind the last judgement, lies yourself again. Love will appear in your own mirror to welcome you as your friend, because you are worthy of being loved. And you are made of love.

Chapter 2 – Affirm your life

Summary:

1. Your Radiant Intelligence

2. Living in the midst of responsibilities

  • Most thoughts we project are not our true thoughts. They are mainly judgments, criticisms, doubts, and other comments that we have picked up along the way. These so-called thoughts do not come from the original mind of our unconditioned Self but from a self-image that believes in the basic fear.

  • In other words, you either tune in to the psychology of your self-image or to the pure awareness of your unconditioned Self.

  • If you change your thoughts, you change your life.

EXERCISE: Prepare a quiet space for yourself, relax and tune into your breath. Ask yourself the question: What does it feel like to be me when I'm not judging myself?

Complete the exercise by asking yourself: “A good thing that could happen if I judged myself less is:”

3. Suffer for psychology

  • What we are today rests on what we thought yesterday, and our current thoughts forge our future life: our life is creation in our mind.

  • Experience is made up of a circumstance and your thoughts about the circumstance. Your thoughts are what count. Thought is not reality. You can choose your thoughts.

  • The only thing we come to face is a thought, and a thought can be changed.

4. The power of questioning

"Your inner critic has never had anything published." For years I had listened to the voice of my inner critic, and not once had it occurred to me to check his credentials.

This sudden flash of insight, known within emotional intelligence theory as the "magical-quarter second". (enough to stop a pattern of self-criticism)

EXERCISE: Who taught you to think?

  • If we were taught as children that the world is a terrifying place, then we will accept as true anything we hear that fits this belief. The same goes for “don't trust strangers”, “don't go out at night”, or “people cheat”.

  • On the other hand, if during our early life we were taught that the world is a safe place, then we would have other beliefs. We can easily accept that love is everywhere and that people are friendly and that I will always have what I need.

  • The worst case scenario is that you go through life with a second-hand mind, that you have borrowed from a father, a mother or someone else, and that you are still using an operating system 5.0 that is the mind of the being you were at five years of age.

  • Who is thinking “my” thoughts? - level 1

  • See if the thought reflects the basic truth or the basic fear.

5. Change your thoughts

  • The mind is creative, if you change the way you think, it will change your life.

  • Until someone can teach you the connection between your outer experiences and your inner thoughts, you will be a victim of life.

  • Every thought you think and every word you say is an affirmation. They affirm what they believe to be true and therefore the way you experience your life. A complaint is an affirmation. Gratitude is an affirmation.

  • Decisions and actions are also affirmations. The clothes you choose to wear, the food you choose to eat, and the exercise you choose to do or not do—all of it is affirming your life.

  • The moment you say affirmations, you step out of the role of a victim. You recognize your own power. What you affirm today prepares a new experience for tomorrow.

Practice: 10 points

  • Practice an affirmation throughout the day.

  • Write it on post-its and distribute them at points in your house where you spend time.

  • When you see the post-it, repeat the affirmation to yourself out loud.

Reflections:

  • What we are today rests on what we thought yesterday, and our current thoughts forge our future life. – Buddha

Chapter 3 – Follow your Bliss

Summary:

  • Mystics and scientists agree that, within the deepest reality that transcends space and time, we are all members of one body.

  • Life is not judging you, and it is not criticizing you. It is also not testing you and is definitely not trying to make things difficult for you. Life loves you, your true Self.

  • Life Loves You is a philosophy of love that recognizes that love is spiritual, not just romantic. Love is the consciousness of the universe. It is the emptiness of the personal and psychological neurosis of the ego. Love is an infinite intelligence.

1. Listen from the inside

  • Life Loves You is a philosophy of love that recognizes that love is spiritual, not just romantic. Love is the consciousness of the universe. It is the emptiness of the personal and psychological neurosis of the ego. Love is an infinite intelligence.

  • We learn to rely on the ego and our intellect to navigate. This is fine for short runs, but not for the long run that is our true path.

  • You are the Buddha and everyone is waiting for you to remember this. The name Buddha is a Sanskrit term for "the awakened one"; someone who remembers his unconditioned nature.

  • When I wake up, I go to the mirror and say "tell me, what do I need to know today?". Everything I need to know will be revealed to me in perfect space-time sequence.

2. Love who you are

  • According to research, the first word most children learn to say is "NO," .

  • Children hear the word up to 400 times a day.

  • Imagine a life in which the first word we learned was "YES"

EXERCISE:

  • Invite everyone in the group to stand up, one by one, and say out loud the following affirmation: “I am a wise person”.

  • Every time I hear the word “should” an alarm goes off in my head. When you hear yourself say “should be this” or “should be that”, you need to ask yourself: Who is saying this? Is it the voice of the unconditioned self? Are you really following your bliss? Or is it the voice of your ego?

3. The Sacred “Yes”

  • Allow the loving hand of the universe to guide you.

    • Saying yes is an act of faith

    • Saying yes is having an open mind

    • Saying yes is a journey, not a goal.

    • Saying yes is being present in your life.

4. Assertive I Am

  • The better you are at saying yes, the better you will become at saying no.

  • Most people start with what they don't want: "I don't want the relationship I'm in" or "I don't want the job I have" or "I don't want to live where I'm living." This is at least a start, but it is not as powerful as putting your attention and energy into what you want to say yes to.

  • As you gain greater clarity about the Sacred Do's in your life, you experience a sense of empowerment and grace that helps you live a truly blessed life.

Practice: My affirmation table

  • In a notebook, write a list of affirmations that are your Sacred Yes'.

  • What do I want to learn? What do I want to experience?

  • Make sure your affirmation chart is about what you say yes to today, not some day in the future.

Reflections:

  • Fountains mix with the river, and rivers with the ocean, the winds of the sky mix forever with a sweet emotion, nothing in the world is alone; all things by divine law meet and mingle in the same spirit. Why not me with you?

  • The universe of love does not stop because you do not see it, neither your closed eyes have lost the ability to see. Look at the glory of his creation and you will discover what God has reserved for you.

  • The truth is in us, it is not born from something external, no matter what one might believe. There is, in all of us, a hidden center, where the truth lives fully; and all around, from wall to wall, simple flesh contains this perfect and clear perception, which is the truth.

  • To be unaware of oneself as a spirit is hopelessness - Kierkegaard

  • Inside you there is an artist you don't know... Is what I say true? Say yes quickly, for you have known it since before the beginning of the universe.

Chapter 4 – Forgive the Past

Summary:

Guilt is the loss of innocence. It is what we experience when we forget the basic truth “I am worthy of being loved”.

1. Love your inner child

  • Loving the inner child is about forgiving ourselves for losing our innocence and our goodness.

  • Forgiveness sets us free.

EXERCISE: We recommend that you do this meditation sitting in front of a mirror.

  • I am worthy of being loved and life loves me. I forgive myself for all the times I've been afraid of not being worthy of love. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me. I forgive myself for judging myself and for not believing in my goodness. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me.

  • I forgive myself for not feeling worthy and for believing that I don't deserve love. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me. I forgive myself for all the times I have criticized and attacked myself. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me.

  • I forgive myself for rejecting myself and for giving up on myself. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me. I forgive myself for doubting myself and for not trusting myself. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me. I apologize so I can learn. I accept forgiveness in order to grow. I am worthy of being loved and life loves me.

2. Forgive your parents

  • All illnesses comes from a state of unforgiveness, forgiveness can heal every guilt and every fear.

  • You do to yourself what you do not forgive your parents for. You accuse others of doing what you do not forgive your parents for. You do to others what you don't forgive your parents for. Your children will accuse you of doing what you do not forgive your parents for.

Practice: The Forgiveness Scale

  • You start by choosing a person on whom you are going to focus. You can choose yourself.

  • Prepare as you would for a meditation. Find your center, breathe fully and allow your body to relax.

  • Bring into your awareness the person you are going to focus on. When you are ready ask yourself: From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven this person? Record your first answer to this question.

  • Raise the number a little and restate: I am willing to forgive myself X%. Say this several times and monitor your responses.

  • Each step you take on the ladder of forgiveness helps you let go of the basic fear I am not worthy of being loved and experience the basic truth: I am worthy of love.

  • Ask yourself:

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven myself?

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven my mother?

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven my father?

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven my brother/sister?

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven my friend, ex-partner, neighbor?

    • From 0 to 100 percent, how much have I forgiven everyone?

Chapter 5 – Be Grateful Now

Summary:

  • When I wake up, before opening my eyes, I like to thank my bed for a restful night's sleep.

  • Do a gratitude exercise for 10 minutes and then move on with your day.

  • He describes basic trust as a feeling of being "supported by reality." Basic trust teaches us that “life is fundamentally kind” and helps us let go of the false images, identifications, beliefs, and ideas that cause us to feel unworthy of love and undeserving. Think of the basic trust as faith in an optimizing force.

  • Practicing gratitude is one way to make the sun rise again.

1. The gift of everything

  • Pain is often a sign that you are not hearing a message. Therefore, begin by affirming: "I am willing to receive the message". Pay attention and allow your body to speak to you. Apologize for ignoring your body and tell it you are now all ears. Be grateful that your body is trying to tell you something. Your body is not trying to complicate things for you; is trying to help you. Your body is not against you, it is teaching you how to love yourself and how to allow for life to love you.

  • I listen with love to the messages of my body.

2. The path of trust

  • Trust can transform a mindset from fear into love and show us the path can take us on wonderful journeys of healing.

  • Being afraid is a sure sign that you are trusting your own ego.

  • To the ego, confidence feels like walking on a plank. It is a march to death. This is because trust takes you beyond your ego's perceptions and into a field of greater possibilities. Confidence invokes the highest in you. It gives you access to the limitless potential of your Unconditioned Self.

  • Confidence shows you that when your life is falling apart, it's not you who is falling apart. The essence of who you are is always right. What falls apart is your sense of self, your ego and its plans, hopes and expectations about how things should be.

  • I trust there is a higher plan, with benefits, and I am fully open to take it.

3. The Sacred “now”

  • Adults often interpret children's fixation on the now as a sign of impatience or even impoliteness, but it's actually a sign of being alive.

  • When we lose faith in ourselves, we stop trusting the present moment to take care of us and give us what we need.

  • Now is another name for love.

  • The gift of now is that we always have a chance to start over.

  • No matter what the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against. Make him your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your entire life.

  • HAPPINESSISNOWHERE - did you read it as No Where or Now Here?

  • Living in the present is how I learned to trust life and see that everything I need is here for me.

  • I review my day and bless and appreciate each experience. Gratitude always leads you in the direction of love. The more you practice gratitude, the more you become who you really are.

  • When gratitude is difficult, it is a sign that you need to stop, because you have moved away from yourself and you have forgotten what is really sacred.

Practice: Daily Gratitude

  • Stand in front of the mirror and repeat the following affirmation 10 times: One thing in my life that I am grateful for right now is…

  • Make sure you do the exercise out loud.

  • Once in the morning and once at night.

Reflections:

  • Waking up at dawn with a winged heart and giving thanks for another day of love - Khalil Gibran

  • Confidence is the awareness that who you think you are cannot run your life, but who you really are can and will.

  • Every moment presents me with a new and wonderful opportunity to become more of who I am.

  • I thank God for this incredible day: for the green jumping spirits of the trees for this blue sky dream; and for everything that is natural, that is infinite, that is yes.

Chapter 6 – Learning to Receive

Summary:

1. The Now Principle

  • I would find a way to experience this potential for love and prosperity, and never allow myself to forget this potential again.

  • The principle of Now. The Unconditioned Self, which is our true nature, is already blessed.

  • According to the principle of Now, you have been given everything you need for your journey in this life. Regardless of which path you take, divine guidance will find you there.

  • There is more to this world than meets the eye. Even in a world of fear, there is love. Even when you have scarcity, there is abundance. Even when you experience conflict, there is peace. Even when you are alone there is help. Even when you are confused, there is guidance.

2. Beyond independence

  • Healthy independence is a creative force that moves through everything and everyone.

  • Healthy independence allows you to take your place within the collective.

  • Healthy independence promotes freedom of thought. It helps you know your own mind, which is, in its purest form, an expression of your Unconditioned Self.

  • It helps you rely on innate wisdom that is your true power.

  • All the doors of the universe are always open for you. The door to wisdom is open. The door to healing is open. The door to forgiveness is open. The door to prosperity is open.

  • It reminds us that true love is given freely, without a cost, and that it is equally available to all of us. This love is greater than anyone could conceive because it has no limits. It's not just an idea. It comes from unity. It is the original energy of the unified field. It is the basic consciousness of life. It is the heart of the universe expressing its limitless generosity.

3. The diary of what was received

  • The universe is always saying yes to your highest good. I am ready to receive my highest good in this situation, this modifies your perception and your circumstances.

Practice: Keep a diary of what you received.

One way life is loving me right now is...

Reflections:

  • There are so many gifts that remain unopened since your birthday – Hafiz

  • I am willing to allow for life to love me today. Everything I need to know is revealed to me. With gratitude I accept all the good that I now have in my life. I now let go of all struggle, and I am at peace. My healing is already in progress. I now accept and appreciate the abundant life that the Universe offers me.

  • In the infinity of life where I am, everything is perfect, whole and complete. I believe in a power greater than myself that flows through me every moment of every day. I open myself to the wisdom that is within, for I know that there is only one Intelligence in this Universe. From this One Intelligence comes all answers, all solutions, all healing, all new creations. I trust in this power and Intelligence, for I am certain that what I need to know will be revealed to me, and that whatever I need will come to me in the right time, space, and sequence. Everything is fine in my world.

  • Even after all this time, the Sun never said to the Earth: “you owe me”. Look what happens with such love, it lights up the whole sky.

  • The sun, with all those planets circling around it, can still make a bunch of grapes ripen as if it had nothing else to do in the universe.

CHAPTER 7 – HEAL THE FUTURE

Summary:

  • Is the universe a friendly place?

  • Intelligence is manifested in nature, a wonderful structure behind reality. A unified whole, a legitimate harmony. God is subtle but not malicious.

  • Pascal recommended to bet without hesitation that God exists. If you win, you win everything. If you lose, you lose nothing.

  • Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination surrounds the whole world.

  • Plato made reference to an Essential Universe and a Perceived Universe. He said that the Essential Universe is perfect, good and whole (just like your unconditioned Self). He recognized, however, that the ego (the sense of a separate self) cannot see the whole picture, and therefore lives in a Perceived Universe, and it is here that we often lose sight of what he called "absolute beauty.” and the “friendly harmony” of creation.

  • He referred to the work of Jesus as "the most sublime and benevolent moral code ever offered to man."

  • Mainly due to lack of love for oneself, we follow the path of fear. We seek happiness outside of ourselves.

  • When we forget what is real – the unified whole, our basic truth, the benevolent way of things – we fall from grace and lose ourselves in 10 thousand useless dramas. Only love ends all arguments.

  • The suffering that we all experience is due to the non-permanent nature of life. Mourning for death, end of a relationship, loss of a job.

  • The Buddha referred to this as dukkha. It comes from trying to grab what we want, pushing away what we don't want, wishing everything including ourselves would last forever, and forgetting our true nature. This attachment is entirely human.

2. Trust in Love

  • All doors are now opening to happy surprises, and the divine plan of my life has been accelerated under grace and perfectly.

3. Teach only love

4. A loving mirror

  • When I think of love, I like to visualize myself standing in a circle of light. This circle represents love and I see myself surrounded by it. Once I feel this love in my heart and body, I see the circle expand to fill the room, and then every square inch of my home, and then the neighborhood, and then the entire city, and then the entire country. , and then the entire planet and finally the entire universe. That's what love is like for me. This is how love works.

  • A human being is part of the whole, which we call the Universe. A part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, and our thoughts and feelings, as separate from others. A kind of optical illusion of consciousness. This illusion is a kind of prison for us, limiting our own personal affection to those closest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to encompassing all living creatures, the entire nature in all its beauty.

  • Create a world where it is safe for us to love one another.

Practice: Bless the World.

  • It's not just about letting life love me; It also has to do with me loving life. Life loves me and I love life.

  • Bless yourself

  • Bless your loved ones

  • Bless the neighborhood

  • Bless my enemies

  • Bless the world.

  • Every time you bless the world with your love, you connect with millions of others who are doing the same. Together we create a world where it is safe to love one another.

Reflections:

  • The universe is not outside, the universe is within us.

  • I light up my life every time I do something new. Daring to step into a new space is so exciting. I know that only good is before me, so I am ready for whatever Life has in store for me. New adventures keep us young. And sending loving thoughts in all directions keeps our lives full of love.

  • Each of us has a self-image, an ego, that we hope is lovable, but egos are full of holes. These holes hide doubts and fears, and cast a shadow over the way we see the world. Life loves you asks us to dig deep, to scratch the ground of our being, where our true nature lives. Here is our buried treasure. It is here where we will know our unconditioned Being. This is the being that life loves.

END
